Frequently Asked Questions about Fast Titles for Vehicles

Can a fast title processed over the counter be released to someone other than the owner?
If the owner completes a Power of Attorney or a Fast Title Authorization Affidavit, the title may be released to someone else with proper photo identification.

If there is more than one owner, do they all have to be present to receive a fast title?
If the proper documents are submitted with all required signatures and only one owner is present, the title can be released.

If a customer has previously applied for a title and has not received it in the mail, can they apply for a fast title?
If the title has been returned to the department as undeliverable, a fast title can be issued at no charge to the customer. Verification of address must be submitted if the address differs from DHSMV records.

If the title has not been returned to the department as undeliverable, the title issue date exceeds 20 days, and a replacement title is applied for within 180 days of the issue date, a title can be issued. Verification of address must be submitted if the address differs from DHSMV records.

If the title issue date does not exceed 20 days, the duplicate title fee for a vehicle is as follows:

  • $75.75 for electronic title only.
  • $78.25 to have the title printed and mailed.
  • $85.75 if you wish to have this processed as a fast title.
