Understanding Your Tax Bill

Understanding Your Tax Bill

Your property tax bill is formatted to clearly display each individual taxing district, distinguishing between ad valorem taxes, which are based on assessed value and millage rate, and non-ad valorem assessments, which are based on fixed rates. The totals from both categories are combined to provide a single, comprehensive amount due.

Please contact the Property Appraiser’s office with any questions regarding exemption eligibility or the amounts on your tax bill: (407) 665-7506.

Return the lower part of the bill with your payment. Please do not write on the lower portion of the bill.

  1. TAX BILL NUMBER (REAL ESTATE ONLY):

This is an alternate number that identifies your tax bill.

  1. PROPERTY I.D. NUMBER:

This is a unique number assigned to each property.  Use this number after accessing our Property Tax Search to determine if your current year taxes have been paid.  Please have this number available when contacting our tax department.

  1. ASSESSED VALUE:

The value of your property inclusive of Save Our Homes cap (if applicable) but before exemption deductions.

  1. EXEMPTION(S):

These amounts reflect the exemptions granted.  Some exemptions are only applicable to certain taxing authorities (for example: Amendment 1 does not reduce the school levies).

Contact the Property Appraiser’s Office any questions on eligibility.

  1. LEGAL DESCRIPTION:

Verify the legal description.  If any errors are found, notify the Property Appraiser’s Office.

  1. PROPERTY OWNER(S):

Verify the ownership listed.  If you have sold this property, forward the notice to the new owners or return it to the Property Appraiser’s Office with the new owner information.

  1. MAILING ADDRESS:

If your mailing address differs from what is listed on the tax bill, you may correct it on the Property Appraiser’s website at www.scpafl.org.

  1. TOTAL TAXES:

No discount has been subtracted from this amount.  See the monthly boxes on the bottom of the bill for the proper amount to pay.

  1. AMOUNT DUE:

The total due shown in each box already reflects the discount according to the postmark on the envelope.

  1. DELINQUENT TAX NOTICE:

A message will be printed on the tax bill if prior year’s taxes are unpaid.  Prior year’s taxes are not included in the total due as listed on the tax bill.

Please call (407) 665-7641 for the amount to pay prior year’s taxes due.
