Elected by the citizens of Seminole County, the Tax Collector is an independent constitutional officer authorized by Florida’s Constitution to send tax bills, collect tax payments (ad valorem, non-ad valorem, and tangible personal property taxes), approve deferrals, and sell tax certificates on properties with delinquent taxes. After collecting taxes, the Tax Collector distributes property taxes to local governments and taxing authorities to fund services such as schools, roads, cities, and parks.
Most Tax Collectors in Florida also serve as agents for additional state agencies, including the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the Florida Department of Health, and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
This partnership allows our office to offer the following services to Seminole County residents:
Registration of motor vehicles, mobile homes, and vessels
Title applications for motor vehicles, mobile homes, and vessels
Issuance of hunting and fishing licenses
Issuance of driver licenses
Application for concealed weapons licenses
Renewal of concealed weapons licenses
Issuance of birth certificates
Voter registration applications
J.R. Kroll was elected in 2020 as Seminole County’s sixth Tax Collector and currently serves as the District 6 Director for the Florida Tax Collectors Association.
