Vessel Titling and Registration

 All boats operating on Florida’s public waterways must be titled and registered in accordance with Chapter 328, Florida Statute. 

  • Can be registered for one or two years 
  • The purchaser has 30 days to title and register the new or used vessel 
  • Owner must have proof of purchase date aboard the vessel if operating within the 30-day period 
  • Non-residents must register their out-of-state vessels in Florida if the vessel is used in Florida’s waterways for more than 90 days 
  • Operating an unregistered vessel after 30 days is a second-degree misdemeanor

During the month of March, FLHSMV will be upgrading driver license equipment at select branch offices. Installations will begin at 3:00 pm on the scheduled dates.
Please note that driver’s license services will not be available at the affected branch beginning at 3:00pm on the day of installation. Customers may visit one of our other branch offices for assistance during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our services.
