J.R. Kroll has proudly served the residents of Seminole County since being elected Tax Collector in 2020 and is currently serving his second term in office. Known for his strong commitment to customer service, financial stewardship, and community involvement, Kroll brings decades of leadership and business experience to the role.
Originally from New Jersey, Kroll spent several years living in Northern California before his family relocated to Longwood in 1983. A proud product of Seminole County schools, he attended Rock Lake Middle School and graduated from Lake Brantley High School in 1989. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from University of Central Florida.
Before entering public office, Kroll built a successful career in both the private and public sectors. He spent years working in customer service and employee management roles within the technology manufacturing and insurance industries, experiences that helped shape his people-first leadership style. He later founded and operated his own real estate brokerage for more than 20 years, serving as principal broker while leading a team of 17 agents.
As Tax Collector, Kroll has focused on modernization, operational efficiency, and delivering exceptional service to Seminole County residents. He is a Certified Florida Collector and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Tax Collectors Association. His leadership and dedication to sound financial management earned him the prestigious FTCA Finance Legacy Award in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Kroll remains deeply committed to community service. He serves on the fundraising committee for Habitat for Humanity and is a proud alumnus of Leadership Seminole Class 35. Throughout his career, J.R. Kroll has remained dedicated to serving the community he has called home for more than four decades.
